For the month of November, FairBuilding Network welcomes its newest Social Building Developer: Nagkakaisang Mga Tribu ng Palawan, Inc. (NATRIPAL)!

NATRIPAL is a Palawan-based indigenous people’s organization established in 1995. Federated by 63 local associations, it represents three key indigenous groups across mainland Palawan—the Batak, Pala’wan, and Tagbanua—advocating for the recognition of IP rights to ancestral domains and waters. The organization implements a wide range of projects, including forest protection, ancestral recognition, capacity development, and sustainable livelihoods, all focused on capacitating and empowering indigenous communities and cultures.

🌿 The Ecolodge: A Center for Sustainability

With the vision of strengthening their conservation impact, NATRIPAL, in collaboration with GreenPact (a PH-based green enterprise that assists communities with revenue-based conservation), joined the FairBuilding Network last November 11th. The goal of this partnership is to source sustainable construction services and materials for the upcoming development of NATRIPAL’s The Ecolodge situated in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The Ecolodge will serve as a Conservation Tourism Center for Sustainability for NATRIPAL. Key features of the center include:

  • NATRIPAL’s main administrative office.
  • A Knowledge Hub for Indigenous Knowledge, Systems, and Practices (IKSP) of NATRIPAL’s IP members.
  • A dynamic field laboratory.
  • The main trading center for Indigenous People’s products.
  • Events and co-working spaces.
  • A center dedicated to Indigenous Arts.

Its core goal is to create a safe space where people, culture, and nature can thrive together—supporting the community, protecting nature, and sharing cultures in a vibrant and respectful manner.

Currently in its start-up and planning stage, we look forward to having FBN’s Industry Partners onboard to collaborate with NATRIPAL and help turn this impactful vision into a reality.
