In celebration of Save the Children’s 100th year anniversary, they spearheaded the Brigada Eskwela 2019 in the participating public schools of Metro Manila. Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week is a nationwide initiative by the Department of Education (DepEd) that mobilizes thousands of parents, alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-government organizations, teachers, students, and individuals who volunteer their time and skills to do repairs, maintenance work, and clean-up of public elementary and secondary schools.

Save the Children Philippines invited their partners to donate needed materials for the refurbishment of some of the schools as well as an in-kind donation of school supplies for the students who are in need. In support, the Fairbuilding team not only helped Save the Children source out construction material donations but also joined and volunteered last May 22nd in the Brigada Eskwela program together with several BCI Asia-Philippines’ employees. The volunteers went to Juan Sumulong Elementary school located in Pasay City.

The volunteers were mobilized to support the facility improvement program by cleaning, repainting and repairing, gardening and landscaping and furnishing the classrooms of the elementary school.
