NEW INITIATIVES for Families in Bohol

Background

FairBuilding is proud to support the much needed expansion of the 1000 Homes for Bohol project with the construction of additionally 3083 families to receive a new home. Bohol was heavily affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in 2014 and thousands people lost their homes and were left without adequate safe drinking water and sanitary facilities.

Project Summary

The project is initiated by Habitat for Humanity Philippines and commences in October 2015. It is an on-site construction whereby the houses will be built on the lands owned by the beneficiaries in 17 municipalities within Bohol.

Funding for the project is provided by both Habitat for Humanity and the national government.

However support is still required and the provision of discounted construction material would help to stretch the projects reach to even more families in need.

Impact of the Project

The beneficiaries are indigent communities that live under the poverty line and can’t afford to reconstruct a new home. At the moment, some of the families live with their relatives; some were displaced while others even had to set up barong-barong or shanty houses to have some shelter from the weather.
